Call to Him, Again

A Reflection on the Psalm for Sunday, October 26th, 2025:
Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Psalm 34

 R. The poor one called and the Lord heard.

I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.

R. The poor one called and the Lord heard.

The face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.

R. The poor one called and the Lord heard.

The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, and saves the crushed in spirit. The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.

R. The poor one called and the Lord heard.

Pause. Pray. Reflect.

There is no saint’s feast
today. It is Ordinary

Time in the liturgical calendar.
The leaves fall dead to the ground
as October wanes. Biting autumn air grabs
my nose in the mornings.
The last of the rust coloured flowers
close their petals for another year.
Birds deliberate on their departure time. Life
trudges onward toward the fallow season.

The sun diminishes, my heart
weighs heavily. I have been crying
for help, Lord. Driven into a foxhole, I cry

to Him again.
Must it always come to this?
Lord, have you turned away?

Metanoia. Turn around.

Let it be enough just to dance with You, Lord
in the sunshine and in the rain.
Build my faith so that I might be willing
to enter into the mystery
and release my grip on certainty.

Is it the very process of crying to You
that You call me to? So that my soul
might be released into Your comforting presence?

My troubled heart does find refuge here,
in prayer.
He is there.
My Lord who loves.

Beautiful, Lori. “Let it be enough just to dance with You, Lord in the sunshine and in the rain.”
May His presence always comfort you, dear sister, in the ever changing seasons of life. ❤️
