Just Praise

A Reflection on the Psalm for August 25th, 2019:
​Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time

Psalm 117

R. Go into all the world and proclaim the good news!

Praise the Lord, all you nations!
Extol him, all you peoples! R.

For great is his steadfast love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. R.

Sometimes the shortest and smallest things say more than the long and the large. I think this should be written on a plaque and nailed to my door; and memorized. I decided to wake up every morning and say this verse out loud and caught myself smiling. Amazing what a little praise and thankfulness can do for one’s spirit. Praise and thank the Lord because great is His love even when we are not at all lovable, and His faithfulness endures forever even when we are not faithful to Him. Each line calls to mind another line.
 
Praise the Lord, all you nations!
Hallowed be thy name! Great are you Lord, everywhere and for everyone in the world.

Extol him, all you peoples!
Because the Lord has done great things for everyone, even if most of humanity doesn’t believe in Him!

For great is his steadfast love toward us.
And nothing will ever separate us from that love.

And the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.
For all eternity, forever and ever, world without end, Amen!

Praise the Lord!


Praise and thankfulness; a great way to start the day, every day and all day long.
