Sing His Song

A Reflection on the Psalm for October 13th, 2019:
Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Psalm 98

R. THE LORD HAS REVEALED HIS VICTORY IN THE SIGHT OF THE NATIONS

​O sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvellous things.
His right hand and his holy arm
have brought him victory. 

From the very beginning beyond time, He was and is, and marvellous are the works of His hands. Who is His right hand? His Son, our Saviour and Redeemer. The victory is His and it is ours. Let’s sing His praises not just with our mouths but with everything we are and do. To put Him first is to sing His song.

THE LORD HAS REVEALED HIS VICTORY IN THE SIGHT OF THE NATIONS

The Lord has made known his victory;
he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.
He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
​to the house of Israel.

Time and time again He reveals Himself and waits for us to see, to hear, to listen, and to obey. Revelation comes, but slowly, and each of us grasps it at different times and in different ways. It is there if we truly want it. His victory is Jesus risen from the dead. Do I know that, I mean, really know that in the deepest visceral way? Because if I do, why do I not live it out. Ah, the ebb and flow of faith, the muscle that must be exercised. ​

THE LORD HAS REVEALED HIS VICTORY IN THE SIGHT OF THE NATIONS

All the ends of the earth have seen
the victory of our God.
​Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises. 

Victory over every evil the world and the devil throw at us. We are victorious! No shame, no guilt, no turning back! The Kingdom is here so jump for joy! I heard this recently from a 3 year old boy and it broke my heart, “Mommy, I want to be happy. I have so much sad in my mouth.” This child has never in his young life heard the words “Jesus loves me”.  Have mercy on us O Lord, that we might be a light to the children, sing them the song of Love, so they know we own the ultimate victory.
